Sang reveals mixed emotions after leading DCI to KVF podium finish

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) coach Patrick Sang was a man of mixed emotions following his team’s run in the 2025 Kenya Volleyball Federation.
Sang, whose rookie team lost the finals to Kenya Pipeline in the playoffs on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Kasarani, maintained that they gave their best despite the setback in the final.
The coach spoke highly of the detectives’ remarkable rise following their participation in the finals.

In only their maiden appearance at the KVF finals, the sleuths were the season’s surprise package, silencing Kenya Prisons to book a final berth against Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club.
Despite them falling at the final hurdle, Sang says the team can look back at their run with pride.
“We wanted the gold medal, but hard luck on our side. It was not to be. It is, however, an achievement for a team established just in 2018 to reach where we are now. Congratulations to the girls for what they achieved,” he said.
The coach backed the team to come back stronger and continue where they left off.
“We go back to work on our weaknesses and rectify the mistakes we made. We will be back here,” he asserted.
The impressive display from the club saw two of its stars named among the competition’s most outstanding players and featured in the ultimate team of the KVF finals.
Sarah Namisi and Sharon Jeruto were crowned as the best server and best outside hitter, respectively.

Additionally, Mercy Iminza, Vivian Vukutsa, Sarah Namisi, and Peninah Barasa secured spots in the provisional squad of the national team, Malkia Strikers.
The detectives now shift focus to the playoffs of the upcoming Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament and the African Volleyball Club Championship, where they will be making their maiden appearance.
