Kenya Cup: DCI shifts focus to third-place playoff
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations Volleyball Club has shifted attention to the Kenya Cup third-position playoff after missing out on the competition finals.
In a statement shared by the team’s media page on Saturday, July 12, 2025, the sleuth ladies were acknowledged for their hard-fighting spirit.
The DCI slumped to a set loss at the hands of the Kenya Pipeline team, who inflicted another defeat on the side they beat in the Kenya National Volleyball Championship in May.
Sleuths fight
“The DCI volleyball team stumbled against Kenya Pipeline in the semifinals of the inaugural Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament staged at the Kasarani Indoor Arena earlier today, a statement from the sleuths stated.
In the clash, Patrick Sang’s team mounted a fight in the first set only to lose it late by a couple of points.
“With a full-throttle offensive surge, the detectives asserted dominance in the early stages of the match. However, the ever-relentless Kenya Pipeline regrouped and bounced back with ruthless counter-defence to steal the set by 26 to 24.
“The Oilers had to dig deep again to stop a late uprising by the stubborn detectives, sealing a 26 to 24-point win and completing a three-set victory to book their spot in the finals,” the team said.
With a place in the final now out of reach, the investigative agency team has turned its attention to the playoff tie against Kenya Prisons.

Prisons fell to Kenya Commercial Bank in the second semifinal staged at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
“Although they bowed out of championship contention, the sleuths proved to be worthy opponents. They will be seeking redemption in tomorrow’s third and fourth position playoffs against Kenya Prisons, who lost to Kenya Commercial Bank in the second semifinal match,” the statement concluded.
DCI will enter the clash as favourites after edging past Prisons in the semifinal of the KVF National League clash held in May 2025.
The winner of the third-place playoff will pocket Ksh100, 000, with the fourth-ranked team taking home Ksh75,000.
Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline will now face Kenya Commercial Bank in the finals slated for Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The two teams will go head-to-head for the ultimate prize money of Ksh300,000.
