As the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season reaches the halfway mark, record champions Gor Mahia are firmly in the title race, leading the table with 33 points in 16 outings, just above arch rivals AFC Leopards, courtesy of a healthy goal difference.

As the league enters its second round, People Daily Sports reflects on Gor Mahia’s position and performance, measured against the same stage last season. The numbers tell a story of clear progress, renewed consistency, and a team firmly on course in the title race.

Table position

At the midpoint of the campaign, K’Ogalo sit at the summit of the table with 33 points. This represents a significant improvement from last season, when the team found themselves in fourth place at the same stage with 27 points.

The six-point swing and three-place climb underline the strides made in terms of results and consistency. From an attacking perspective, there has been remarkable continuity. Gor Mahia have scored 25 goals this season, the same tally achieved at the halfway mark in 2025.

The key difference lies at the other end of the pitch. Defensively, the team has tightened up, conceding 11 goals compared to 13 last season, contributing to a healthier goal difference of +14.

Show of improvement

Perhaps the most telling indicator of progress is found in the results column. This season has yielded 10 wins at the halfway stage, two more than the eight recorded last year.

At the same time, losses have been reduced from five to three, a reflection of improved game management and the ability to grind out results even on difficult days.

Gor Mahia will on Saturday, January 24, 2026, face Bidco United at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 4:00 pm EAT. The reverse, which ended 1-0 in favour of Anthony Akhulia’s men in September 2025, handed Gor Mahia their first defeat of the season in their opening fixture.
