Former Gor Mahia midfielder Francis Kahata confident of Bankers’ turnaround after debut goal
Former Gor Mahia attacking midfielder Francis Kahata has exuded optimism that his first goal will bring better tidings for his new club as the league’s second half kicks off.
The veteran midfielder was on target as KCB edged Posta with a crucial win on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Moi Sports Kassrani Annex.
The goal was the former Simba SC and Police FC midfielder’s first league goal after his mid-season switch to the Bankers.
First goal
“The win today, and my first goal came at the most opportune time. In the last two games, we have not had the desired results,” he stated.
The former Harambee Stars midfielder backed his success to kick off a new tide in their quest to ascend the log and post more results.
“I am hopeful the goal will now gives us more hunger and brings better tidings for us as steam going forward. We now have no reason to drop more points. Hopefully it help us to kick start our season again,”he stated.

The victory saw KCB picking up the crucial maximum points to move within the reach of the top-ranked team.
Robert Mariano’s side is now placed at sixth with 25 points after 17 games, coming just a point below the FKF PL reigning champions, Police, who are placed in fifth with a superior goal difference.
Meanwhile, Rangers’ struggles since coach Pamzo Omollo’s departure continued as the club hit a fifth league match without a win.
The Mailmen had themselves to blame after seeing a 37th-minute penalty come off the upright moments after Kahata’s opener.
Speaking after the game, KCB coach Paul Ogai attributed the performance to defensive astuteness, signalling a resurgence for the side after ending a three-game winless streak.
Confidence levels
“We really wanted the clean sheets in past three games we have played we had gone without a win and we now hope this victory can turn the tide for us and restore our confidence levels,” he added.
