Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has expressed deep sorrow following a deadly road accident at Malaha Junction along the busy Webuye–Kitale highway. The tragic incident has left several families mourning loved ones, while others continue to receive treatment in the hospital.
In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Wanyonyi said the heartbreaking news had shaken many Kenyans and called for prayers and support for those affected by the tragedy.
“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I have received the news of the grisly road accident that occurred at Malaha Junction along the Webuye–Kitale highway,” he stated.

He extended his condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the accident and offered encouragement to survivors currently receiving medical care.
“My deepest and most sincere condolences go out to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives in this horrific incident. No words can adequately ease the pain of losing a loved one so suddenly, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this incredibly dark hour,” the statement reads.
The legislator also shared a message of hope for the injured, wishing them strength and a full recovery as they continue receiving treatment in hospitals.
“To the survivors currently receiving treatment at Webuye Hospital and other facilities, I wish you a quick and full recovery,” the statement reads.
Wanyonyi described the accident as a painful reminder of how quickly lives can change on the road, especially when high-speed vehicles are involved in collisions.
“This tragedy, which began with a collision and escalated into a catastrophic event involving a high-speed trailer, is a sobering reminder of the fragility of life,” he stated.

He also recognised the efforts of emergency responders and members of the public who rushed to the scene and helped the injured in the moments following the crash.
“I want to commend the first responders and the brave members of the public who rushed to the scene to assist the injured. Your selflessness in the face of such trauma saved lives,” he wrote.
The MP urged drivers and all road users to remain careful and vigilant, particularly in areas known for accidents and heavy traffic.
“I urge all motorists and road users to exercise extreme caution and vigilance, particularly at known blackspots and busy junctions. Safety must always be our primary concern,” the statement reads.
Wanyonyi also called on authorities responsible for transport and road safety to thoroughly investigate the accident and take immediate steps to prevent similar tragedies.
“I further call upon the relevant transport authorities to investigate the circumstances of this accident thoroughly and to implement urgent safety measures at the Malaha-Lugulu stretch to prevent such heart-wrenching loss in the future,” he stated
He concluded by offering a final prayer for the victims, expressing hope that their families will find strength during this difficult time.
“May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace,” he concluded.
