Manyora: Amisi’s impeachment bid against Ruto should not be ignored
Political analyst Herman Manyora has exuded confidence about the impeachment push against President William Ruto by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, insisting that it shouldn’t be wished away.
While speaking during his daily political analysis aired on Friday, June 5, 2026, the outspoken analyst stated that the impeachment attempt might not fail and could eventually see the light of day.
He went ahead to urge President William Ruto not to take the impeachment efforts against him lightly, especially coming just a year before the general election.

“You could have your own calculations, thinking that Ruto will win this impeachment, but he could lose. I thought Gachagua’s impeachment could not go through, but it succeeded. Even Ruto could be the same, with an election being a year ahead; people can know that is the only way I can be elected back. Ruto should not ignore these impeachment attempts by Caleb Amisi.”
According to Manyora, some MPs, including those allied to him, could vote in support of the impeachment if they believe doing so would boost their chances of re-election.
He argued that in regions such as Mt Kenya, Nyanza, and Eastern Kenya, except the Rift Valley, which is Ruto’s political stronghold, supporting the impeachment could be viewed by voters as a vote of confidence in those legislators.
Manyora further claimed that a significant number of voters in those regions support the idea of President Ruto serving only one term.
According to him, any politician who champions efforts to remove the president from office could earn political goodwill among those voters and stand a better chance of securing their votes in the general election.
He pointed to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying many people, including himself, initially believed it would never succeed, only for it to eventually go through. According to him, the same scenario could play out with President Ruto.
With Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri expressing doubt and dismissing Caleb Amisi’s push to impeach the president, Manyora dismissed her views, arguing that she lacked political exposure and tact.
“Gasheri doesn’t understand how politics works. She is in parliament, but she is not in parliament.”
Manyora’s urge to Kirinyaga woman rep

Manyora went on to advise the outspoken Kirinyaga Woman Representative to be more tactful when approaching such matters. He argued that on an issue of national concern, such as impeachment, she should not be quick to dismiss it publicly but instead handle it with caution.
According to the analyst, the reservations Jane Njeri has expressed regarding the possibility of the impeachment succeeding were misplaced and should not have been aired publicly. He maintained that she had been poorly advised on the matter.
“That is a lack of tact. I have read the whole issue concerning her, and I think she is tactless; she needs to learn a bit of tact in politics. You don’t go against everything that everybody is thinking.”
Caleb Amisi’s impeachment push
This comes at a time when Caleb Amisi is pushing an impeachment motion against the head of state, with the legislator using his X account to collect signatures, which he says is a prerequisite for the process.
Jane Njeri’s impeachment reservation
According to her, for the impeachment motion to see the light of day, it would require substantial support from both Houses of Parliament. She argued that the initiative might not even garner the support of 50 MPs, far below the one-third threshold required under the Constitution of Kenya.
The push to impeach President Ruto stems from recent efforts by the government to allow an Ebola quarantine facility to be established at Nanyuki Air Base, a move that has sparked political debate and criticism from sections of the opposition.
