Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dismissed speculations that Kenya could fall into anarchy due to the ongoing strife.

In a series of statements on his X account on Sunday, July 21, 2024, Amisi said that Kenya cannot be compared to failed nations on the basis of the current crisis.

“Kenya can never be anarchical. We are beyond being compared to failed nations. Even with internal disagreement, we can never go down. Stop scaring Kenyans. Allow people to talk their emotions out,” Amisi stated.

According to Amisi, most Kenyans have chosen the path of dialogue instead of sinking into full-blown war as seen in failed states.

“Countries with similar internal discomfort have gone to full-blown war and civil strife, but Kenyans have chosen to talk. Let’s people talk, let them demonstrate, picket, shout, it is the fruits of democracy. The alternative is better imagined than felt,” he added.

Amisi castigates Ruto

Amisi also castigated President William Ruto for issuing threats against protestors amid calls for dialogue to restore order.

“You want dialogue, and you are saying enough is enough. Who advises our president? What is dialogue in your language?” he posed.

President William Ruto has promised to stop the consistent protests of Gen Z by all means possible.

Addressing members of the public at Chebango in Bomet County on Sunday, July 21, 2024, Ruto said the demonstrations have led to loss of property and life and that now enough is enough.

“Going forward, we will protect the nation. Going forward, we will protect the nation. We will protect life, and we will protect property. We will stop the looters, we will stop killers, we will stop anarchy, and we will stop mayhem because Kenya is a democracy and we want a peaceful, stable nation,” Ruto said amid cheers from the onlookers.

The Head of State said that the issues the country is facing should be resolved in a democratic manner, while at the same time stressing the need to stop the demonstrations.

“Our issues are resolved using democratic means. Ama mnasemaje watu wa Kenya. Mnasema tusimamishe hii fujo? Na tusimamishe hii vita? Na tusimamishe hii maandamano ya maafa? Na maandamano ya kuharibu mali ya watu?

“I want to promise you that it is going to stop. Enough is enough,” he said.

Kenyan youths are set to hold demonstrations on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, aimed at fighting for good governance and pushing Ruto out of power.
