Amisi: Gachagua’s tribal remarks are hurting anti-Ruto movement

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has gone full throttle at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of promoting tribal politics that could damage the unity needed to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Amisi questioned whether Central Kenya can truly lead the charge to vote out Ruto if leaders like Gachagua continue to push tribal narratives.
He warned that such retrogressive thinking is isolating other regions and weakening the anti-Ruto coalition.
Amisi cautioned young people not to be dragged into outdated political battles driven by ethnic loyalty and old rivalries. He said the country cannot afford another election shaped by tribalism and called for a total shift toward youth-driven politics.
He stressed that the youth must not allow themselves to be turned into cheerleaders of political battles between old leaders. According to him, the 2027 elections should mark a new era where young people take the lead in determining Kenya’s future.
“Is it possible for our brothers and sisters from central to vote out ruto with or without #gachagua ? His retrogressive tribal sentiments are scaring the rest of the anti ruto crusade. The young generation must not be cheer leaders of the old vs. the old kind of politics,” the lawmaker stated.
Adding;
“The young generation must never accept to be invited to this oligarchical match that is beginning August 2027.”

To presidential hopefuls
This is not the first time the Saboti legislator has spoken against tribal politics. In an earlier post on April 20, 2025, Amisi warned politicians eyeing the presidency that tribal alliances will no longer work.
He said those hoping to beat President Ruto must stop gambling with ethnic groupings and instead appeal directly to young voters.
Amisi argued that Ruto’s administration has the financial strength to buy out tribal kingpins and influence their supporters. He believes any candidate depending on tribal support stands little chance against a regime with such resources.
“If you are a presidential candidate and wish Ruto to go home, stop playing tribal arithmetics and focus on the United Voice and voters cards of the young people,”he said.

He further warned that the government can easily co-opt influential ethnic leaders through money and favors, making them unreliable partners in the opposition struggle.
“A rogue government has enough money to buy any tribal kingpin and their supporters combined. You won’t win in this manner!”
2027 trick
On April 15, 2025, Amisi again emphasized the need to listen to the youth. He said today’s Generation Z voters are different they cannot be swayed by handouts or tribal loyalty.
He described Gen Z as politically aware and hungry for real change. He noted that once they rally behind a particular candidate, their support is solid and difficult to break.
“Don’t be lied to. #GenZ are not stupid to be divided or bought by a regime they don’t want. These are not our tribal forefathers,” Amisi wrote.
He said the youth will easily reject politicians who represent outdated ways of doing things and have nothing new to offer.
“Gen Z simply abhors old politics and the same old politicians with no ideas of change,” he added.
According to Amisi, the youth are carefully watching every presidential hopeful and will eventually back someone who speaks to their hopes and frustrations. That candidate, he said, will likely be unstoppable.
“They are simply weighing candidates. Once they settle on one, you won’t defeat their candidate. If you stand against the wave of change and refuse to join, you will be avoided like plague,” he warned.
