Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has stepped up his party’s grassroots expansion campaign after officially opening the DCP county office in Embu Town as part of a broader drive to strengthen its presence ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Taking to his official Facebook page after the launch on Saturday, July 25, 2026, Gachagua described DCP as “the party of the moment,” adding that it continues to deepen its engagement with Kenyans at the grassroots.

“The DCP Party remains the party of the moment, continually strengthening grassroots engagement,” Gachagua said.

DCP’s philosophy

He said the Embu office would provide a platform for the party to interact more closely with residents and coordinate its activities in the county.

“It was my pleasure today to officially inaugurate the DCP Office in Embu County, Embu Town,” he said.

Gachagua added that DCP’s leadership philosophy is centred on listening to wananchi and ensuring their voices shape the party’s agenda.

“Our party remains committed to listening to the people of Kenya and fostering a truly inclusive and responsive approach to leadership,” he added.

The Embu office is the latest in a series of DCP offices opened as the opposition party rolls out its national grassroots network.

The launch comes after Gachagua previously unveiled diaspora satellite offices in Seattle and Boston in the United States, saying they would help connect the party with Kenyans living abroad.

2027 candidates registration

The grassroots mobilisation comes as the party continues with registration for individuals seeking to contest elective seats on its ticket in the 2027 General Election.

The party unveiled the nomination guidelines and registration fees for aspiring candidates across the country.

In a notice released by the party on Friday, July 24, 2026, DCP called on all aspirants to begin the registration process by making payments through the party’s designated pay bill before submitting the required personal details.

The move signals the party’s early preparations for the next electoral cycle as it seeks to field candidates for various elective positions.

Guidance on the registration

According to the registration guidelines, aspirants are required to make payments through Pay Bill number 247247, using Account Number 254829, under the account name Democracy for the Citizens Party.

After making the payment, applicants must submit transaction confirmation, their full name and ID number, phone number, county, constituency and ward details, as well as the position they intend to contest.

Those seeking to vie for the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA) will pay Ksh5,000, while youth and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) will pay a discounted fee of Ksh2,500.

Individuals interested in contesting for Member of Parliament, Woman Representative or Senator will each pay Ksh10,000, with youth and PWD aspirants in those categories paying Ksh5,000.

Meanwhile, gubernatorial aspirants will pay the highest registration fee of Ksh50,000, while youth and PWD candidates seeking governorship positions will pay Ksh25,000.
