Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has warned politicians eyeing the presidency in the 2027 General Election, cautioning them against relying on tribal alliances to unseat President William Ruto.

In a statement shared via his X account on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Amisi advised that any serious presidential candidate must shift their focus to the youth of Kenya instead of playing the usual tribal card.

According to the outspoken legislator, Ruto’s administration has the financial muscle to sway tribal kingpins and their followers, making ethnic-based coalitions an unreliable strategy.

“If you are a presidential candidate and wish Ruto to go home, stop playing tribal arithmetics and focus on the United Voice and voters cards of the young people,” Amisi said.

He went on to stress that the current government has the capacity to buy out influential tribal leaders, making it difficult to rely on them for genuine support.

“A rogue government has enough money to buy any tribal kingpin and their supporters combined. You won’t win in this manner!” he warned.

Youth is the key

Amisi has been consistent in his call for a youth-centered political strategy. On April 15, 2025, he shared another post on X urging politicians to take the voice of the young people seriously. He pointed out that today’s youth, especially Gen Z, are not easily swayed by handouts or tribal loyalty, unlike previous generations.

He emphasized that the youth are eager for real change and are closely evaluating presidential candidates. Once they rally behind one candidate, Amisi warned, that individual will likely carry the day in 2027.

“Don’t be lied to. #GenZ are not stupid to be divided or bought by a regime they don’t want. These are not our tribal forefathers,” he said.

Amisi noted that young voters are not interested in politicians who have nothing new to offer and are quick to reject those clinging to outdated political practices.

“Gen Z simply abhors old politics and the same old politicians with no ideas of change,” he added.

According to him, the youth’s support is powerful and unwavering once they make a decision. He cautioned any leader ignoring this reality that they risk being sidelined by the very electorate they hope to lead.

“They are simply weighing candidates. Once they settle on one, you won’t defeat their candidate. If you stand against the wave of change and refuse to join, you will be avoided like plague. A candidate selected and supported by the youth of Kenya shall win. Period,” he said.
