AFC Leopards SC has heaped praises on skipper Lewis Bandi after he scooped a couple of awards at the club’s end-of-season awards gala held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Bungoma.

The former Makadara Junior League midfielder was the club’s creme de la creme, walking away with the best defender and the ultimate prize of the Club Most Valuable Player for the Season (MVP) to cap off what was an outstanding campaign.

Bandi was recognised, albeit in absentia, as he is currently on national team commitment with the Hartambee Stars team angling for the CHAN 2024 games.

“Our MVP. Our Defender of the Year. Our captain. Congratulations, Lewis Bandi. All the best as you represent the country in the upcoming CHAN Competition,” Leopards’ congratulatory statement read.

In what promises to be a fitting finale for the versatile player, much remains to be done as he looks to perpetuate his form with the CHAN 2024 squad currently in camp under Benni McCarthy.

Bandi was among the few Ingwe players to earn the coach’s nod despite what was an overall underwhelming campaign from the perennial league champions.

Other winners

Mousa Oundo scooped the award for the best midfielder, followed by Boniface Munyendo and the promising young talent Kelly Madada, settling for third place.

Ovella Ochiengโ€™s stunning long-range free kick that went viral was voted as the best goal of the season during the awards gala.

Randi Bakari, on his part, went home with the Playerโ€™s Player award after topping the list ahead of Ronald Sichenje.
