AFC Leopards score quick-fire double to steal victory from APS Bomet
AFC Leopards produced a remarkable display, scoring two stoppage-time goals to muster an improbable 2-1 comeback victory against APS Bomet in the league match staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Goals from Christopher Koloti and Ronald Sichenje saw Ingwe upend proceedings for a precious league victory that continued their fine form and chase for the league title.
Late drama
In a dramatic period of added time filled with pure pandemonium, Leopards sealed the fairytale ending to the match as Fred Ambani’s charges stole the maximum three points right from the grasp of APS Bomet.
The clash started off on a cagey note with the visitors proving a tough nut to crack.
Ingwe’s best chance came after James Kinyanjui lost his marker before teeing up Ugandan Samuel Ssenyonjo, yet the forward inexplicably shot wide off target.
Second-half action
Ambani introduced Victor Otieno and Julius Masaba for James Kinyanjui and Brian Nyongesa, respectively, as Ingwe upped the ante in search of the elusive opener.
The most clear-cut chance came with Otieno right in the thick of the action, creating two clear-cut opportunities for Ugandan Ssenyonjo.
His first lay-up to the Ugandan was, however, smothered before the new arrival also failed to make it four goals in his last two games after heading wide from another sumptuous delivery.

The wasted chance came to bite as Sammy Omollo’s side took the lead inside the final ten minutes with Wasai breaking the deadlock with six minutes left on the clock.
Late goals
The late goal roused the ire of angry AFC Leopards fans, who curtailed the visitors’ celebration by hurling water bottles at APS Bomet players. Ingwe, who wanted it and sought to stretch their fine form, was rewarded at death with a second strike from Sichenje.
The strike made for a thrilling atmosphere in a packed Nyayo Stadium, where the team remains unbeaten in its three league games.
Leopards entered the tie seeking to make it three wins in a row after beating Nairobi United 2-0 and whitewashing Tusker FC 4-0, picking up six vital points and recording six important goals with two clean sheets at the venue.
The win sees them reclaim their position at the top of the league above archrivals Gor Mahia even as the tight proceedings at the top of the log go a notch higher.
Ingwe has now moved to 33 points, three above Gor Mahia, who have played two games less.
