Caleb Amisi calls for Bob Njagi’s release after police station visit
Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called for the release of activist Bob Njagi after visiting him at Isinya Police Station, where he is being held.
Amisi, who visited the police station on Sunday, June 28, 2026, said Njagi was in good health and urged supporters to continue advocating for his release through legal channels.
Speaking after the visit, Amisi said he and other leaders had gone to check on Njagi following concerns about his whereabouts.
“So we are here to see our comrade Bob Njagi, who was arrested when he was taking a cup of tea in Kitengela for reasons he does not know,” Amisi said.
He added that Njagi was not participating in demonstrations at the time of his arrest.

“We want to attest and confirm to the youth of the country that yes indeed we have seen Bob Njagi is alive and kicking,” Amisi continued. “We want to thank God for preserving his life. We’ve seen him, we’ve talked, we’ve encouraged him.”
Amisi also urged supporters to attend proceedings at the Kajiado ahead of Njagi’s arraignment.
MP questions treason claims
Njagi was arrested on June 24, 2026, and presented before a court in Kajiado the following day.
The court granted investigators seven days to continue holding him as investigations proceed.

Commenting on the case, Amisi questioned the decision to pursue treason charges against the activist.
“Treason is a serious crime in this country,” Amisi said. “You cannot just pick somebody, a Kenyan, taking tea and put treason charges on him. Treason has parameters, the legal parameters of treason is quite high.”
He appealed to the judiciary to consider Njagi’s release when the matter returns to court.
“We just ask the judges and the judiciary to have all the mercy on our comrade and release him on Thursday so that he can go back to his family, to his children.”
Calls for constitutional rights
Amisi described Njagi as a family man and called for the protection of constitutional rights during the legal process.
“He is not a thief, he has not killed anybody, he has not stolen anybody’s property,” he said.
Njagi’s arrest has attracted attention from human rights groups and political leaders, with supporters expected to attend the next court session in Kajiado as investigations continue.
