Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has weighed in on the tense political atmosphere surrounding the Ol Kalou contest, declaring that the seat had been won by the “#Wantam” candidate while cautioning against any attempts to alter the outcome through violence.

In a brief statement shared on social media on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Amisi claimed the election has already been decided and urged those involved to refrain from using force.

“Ol Kalou has gone to #Wantam candidate. Do not attempt to force it through violence. I warned you! Kenya needs a renaissance,” Amisi said.

The legislator did not provide evidence to support his claim or identify the specific candidate he was referring to.

His remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Ol Kalou following reports of unrest and allegations surrounding the handling of the electoral process.

Amisi’s call for restraint adds to growing appeals from political leaders and stakeholders urging supporters to remain peaceful as authorities address concerns raised over the election.

UDA and DCP candidates voting

DCP’s Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru and UDA’s Samuel Muchina Nyaga were among the early voters for the Ol Kalou by-election.

In a statement on his X handle on Thursday, July 16, 2026, after casting his vote, UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, urging residents to turn out in large numbers and participate in the democratic process.

“This morning, I have proudly exercised my democratic right by casting my vote. I thank God that the voting process has been peaceful, orderly, and smooth. I sincerely thank the IEBC officials, security personnel, party agents, and every stakeholder for ensuring a calm and transparent voting process,” Muchina said

In a statement after casting his vote, DCP’s Sammy commended the progress of the polls, urging voters to continue turning out to exercise their constitutional mandate.

“Voting is an expression of our commitment to ourselves, one another, and this constituency. Thank you for coming out early this morning in large numbers and for maintaining peace. I have exercised my democratic right. Make sure you reach out to someone and confirm that they have voted too,” Waweru said.
