Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has warned principal secretaries that Kenyans will judge the government based on results on the ground, not promises made in meetings or speeches.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Mudavadi said public servants must move faster in implementing government programmes and ensure ordinary citizens feel real change through lower living costs, better services, and more job opportunities.

Mudavadi made the remarks after chairing the first National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) meeting of 2026, which brought together principal secretaries and senior government officials at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete.

Mudavadi said the meeting focused on improving how government programmes are executed, stressing that delivery must be faster, smarter, and more accountable if the administration is to meet the expectations of Kenyans.

“Chaired the 1st National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) meeting of 2026, bringing together Principal Secretaries and senior government officials at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete,” the statement reads.

He explained that the discussions centred on improving public service delivery and ensuring that promises made to citizens are not left on paper but translated into visible action across the country.

“Under the theme – Effective and Efficient Management of Public Service Delivery – We reaffirmed the need for faster, smarter and more accountable implementation of government programmes to ensure the commitments made to Kenyans are fully delivered,” the statement reads.

Mudavadi reminded principal secretaries that they bear responsibility for advancing the government’s development agenda and that their performance will be measured by the impact wananchi feel in their daily lives.

“I reminded Principal Secretaries that they remain the engine driving national transformation and that the success of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) will be measured by tangible impact on the lives of wananchi, lowering the cost of living, creating jobs, expanding economic opportunities and sustaining inclusive growth,” the statement reads.

Mudavadi added that the government cannot afford delays at a time when many families are struggling with high costs of living, limited job opportunities, and pressure from rising prices of basic goods and services.

According to Mudavadi, stabilising the economy and protecting vulnerable households must remain a top priority, especially as Kenyans continue to demand practical solutions rather than political statements.

“Our immediate focus remains maintaining sound macroeconomic stability, protecting vulnerable households from rising living costs, managing energy prices and improving service delivery across all sectors,” the statement reads.
