Political activist Morara Kebaso has called on Kenyan youths to join the Jubilee Party, saying it offers the best platform for young people seeking meaningful political and economic change.

Speaking during the official opening of a Jubilee Party office in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Borabu parliamentary hopeful threw his weight behind Fred Matiang’i’s bid for the presidency in the 2027 General Election, declaring that the former Interior Cabinet Secretary has his full support.

“I urge all young people in Kenya to join the Jubilee Party because if they want meaningful change, they can only find it in the Jubilee Party,” he stated.

Kebaso urged young Kenyans to rally behind Matiang’i, expressing confidence that he has the leadership qualities needed to steer the country in a new direction. He maintained that the Jubilee Party remains the most suitable political vehicle for those who want to champion reforms and improve the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

The political activist also linked the growing trend of youths being hired to disrupt political meetings and demonstrations to the country’s high unemployment rate. According to him, many young people are vulnerable to political manipulation because they lack stable sources of income.

Kebaso expressed confidence that, if elected president in 2027, Matiang’i would prioritise job creation, implement youth empowerment programmes and introduce policies aimed at expanding employment opportunities across the country.

Morara’s interest in Borabu

This comes moments after Kebaso expressed interest in the Borabu parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, effectively shelving the INJECT Party he founded less than two years ago.

The surprise declaration marks a significant shift for Kebaso, who rose to national prominence during the 2024 Gen Z protests and later launched the Injection of National Justice, Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) Party as a youth-driven political movement.

Reason for shift

Speaking during an interview with media personality-cum-comedian Oga Obinna on the night of Monday, June 29, 2026, Kebaso said political realities in Nyamira County and the larger Gusii region had informed his decision to join the party associated with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is the current Jubilee deputy party leader and 2027 presidential flag-bearer.

“INJECT Party itakaa kwa Kabati, kwa saa hizi tunafanya kazi na chama cha Dr Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee Party. Yes, I have joined the Jubilee Party, we have to go with the realities of the politics of the day,” Kebaso said.
