Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has confirmed that his party is ready for the upcoming by-elections, fielding eight candidates.

In a post on his X account on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Musyoka emphasised that leadership is about service, integrity, and standing with the people in every corner of the country.

“@TheWiperParty is ready for the upcoming by-elections. We believe leadership is about service, integrity, and standing with the people in every corner of our country,” the leader posted.

He said the candidates being presented reflect the hopes and aspirations of their communities.

For the National Assembly, WPF will field Samuel Kombe Nzai in Magarini Constituency, Kilifi County, and Dayon Mbare in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County.

The party has also named six candidates for County Assembly seats: Anthony Kyalo Kisoi (Mumbuni North, Machakos County), Daniel Kiranti (Purko, Narok County), Alex Obare Nyantika (Nyansiogo, Nyamira County), James Kamanda Tweya/Daniel Mirambo (Nyamaiya, Nyamira County, subject to nomination), Shem Makori Nyanumba (Ekerenyo, Nyamira County), and Peter Lokelo (Nanaam, Turkana County).

Musyoka added that WPF is consulting with coalition partners to ensure a single candidate is fielded in each location, aiming for unity and strong community representation.

The announcement follows the party’s recent rebranding. In July, Musyoka officially changed the party’s name from Wiper Democratic Movement to Wiper Patriotic Front.

He said the rebrand was meant to give the party a fresh outlook and to incorporate the youth, particularly Gen Z, into political participation.

“The party now has a new face – Wiper is going national. The new name will be Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) so that our Gen Z are fully included,” Musyoka said during a tour of Ukambani.

The November by-elections are scheduled for November 27, 2025. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that the campaign period will run from October 8 to November 24, with campaigning allowed between 7 am and 6 pm daily. There are a total of 23 by-elections: six National Assembly seats, one Senate seat, and 16 MCA positions.

IEBC chairperson Erastus Ethekon emphasised that all political parties and candidates must adhere to the Electoral Code of Conduct to ensure peaceful and credible elections.

Meanwhile, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and other parties have also announced their candidates. Harrison Kombe received an ODM direct nomination for Magarini, while Boyd Were, son of the late Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, secured ODM’s endorsement for the Kasipul seat. The by-elections follow vacancies in the Ugunja and Kasipul parliamentary seats.
