Kalonzo explains significance of his Komboa movement in a bid to challenge Ruto
The Wiper Patriotic Front leader, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, has explained the significance of his Komboa movement aimed at mobilising Kenyans and consolidating support in his bid as a presidential candidate in 2027.
In a statement on his official X account on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Kalonzo said the movement is rooted in the idea of collective national renewal.
Further explaining that the Komboa movement is intended to shift the country from promise to delivery, from potential to progress, and from hope to action.
At the same time, the Wiper Party leader described it as more than a political slogan, saying it represents a structured national agenda to transform Kenya’s governance and socio-economic trajectory.
On the other hand, Kalonzo described his choice of the Swahili word Komboa, which loosely translates to “redeem”, noting that it was shaped by the Wiper Patriotic Front National Delegates Conference (NDC) in October of 2025.
“KOMBOA is about rising together and about moving from promise to delivery, from potential to progress, and from hope to action. Those who have followed our journey since the Wiper Patriotic Front National Delegates Conference (NDC) on October 10 last year know that we did not choose that word lightly,” Kalonzo explained.
Kalonzo, who recently launched his presidential campaign platform ahead of the 2027 general election, described Komboa as a covenant between him and every Kenyan who believes the country needs urgent deliberation.
“KOMBOA is not a slogan. It is a covenant between me and every Kenyan who believes that our country needs urgent liberation from the current state capture,” he added.

Kalonzo’s Presidential bid
His remarks come shortly after launching his presidential campaign platform on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
A launch that marks a significant step in his preparations for the 2027 General Election as political leaders across the country begin positioning themselves ahead of the highly anticipated contest.
With the slogan “Tukomboe Kenya,” Kalonzo’s campaign seeks to rally Kenyans around a platform focused on economic recovery, accountability, and inclusive development.
The campaign platform outlines Kalonzo’s vision in a thirteen-point presidential agenda, which includes ending corruption, health for all, and respect for human rights and freedom.
At the same time, the platform outlines Kalonzo’s decades-long track record of leadership, from working as a diplomat to serving as Kenya’s tenth vice president.
