Cherargei says Raila is healthy and focused on building a broad-based govt
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out strongly to reassure Kenyans about the health and focus of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The senator addressed circulating rumours that questioned Odinga’s well-being, describing them as “cheap propaganda” from a struggling and disjointed opposition.
“Baba Raila Odinga is well and in good health. Ignore the desperate struggling, disunited opposition peddling cheap propaganda about his health,” Cherargei said in a post on his official X account on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Cherargei emphasised that Odinga’s main priority remains the establishment of a broad-based government aimed at fostering unity, stability, and national development.
“The priority for Odinga is the success of broad-based government in a stable, peaceful, united and developed nation,” he added, highlighting the elder statesman’s continued commitment to Kenya’s progress.
Raila’s whereabouts
The party said the misinformation was being spread through selected media outlets that have been amplifying unverified content from bloggers, including fabricated images.
“The hope of this team then and now is to bully man, Raila, to provide for them to ride on in their struggle against President William Ruto,” the statement read in part on X on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

The party went on to clarify that Raila Odinga had travelled out of the country on Friday evening, one of the many official and personal trips he has made this year. ODM firmly stated that he did not travel to Europe, contrary to reports circulating online, and that he is not indisposed as alleged by his political opponents.
“Raila travelled out of the country on Friday evening — one of the many trips he has made this year, and definitely not the last. He did not travel to Europe as reported by bloggers and broadcast by some media houses. No, he is not indisposed, as prayed for by his frustrated opponents,” the statement reads.
The senator’s message comes amid a flurry of misinformation about Odinga’s health, which has been circulating across some social media platforms and informal networks. Cherargei sought to put these concerns to rest, assuring Kenyans that Odinga remains active, alert, and fully engaged in political and national matters.
In closing, Cherargei paid tribute to the former Prime Minister, affirming his enduring respect and admiration. “Long live Rao Baba podpek,” he concluded, underscoring Odinga’s lasting influence and dedication to the country.
