Top govt officials laud Kenya Police’s coronation as 2025 champions

Top officials from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration have come out to congratulate Kenya Police FC for clinching the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title for the 2024/25 season.
The law enforcers achieved the feat on Sunday, June 15, 2025, with a 1-0 victory over Shabana FC at Machakos Stadium to bag their maiden league title.
The achievement sparked a series of congratulatory messages after police defied odds to rise to the championship.
Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen led the praises by hailing the team’s courage and dedication en route to claiming the gong.

The CS specifically extolled the team for snapping the long-standing dominance of perennial rivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, terming it a new era for Kenyan football.
“A big congratulations to the Kenya Police FC on winning the FKF Premier League for the first time. Your courage, discipline, and determination have enabled you to break the long-standing two-club dominance of the league and ushered in a new era. This is a strong signal that the local football scene is becoming stronger and more competitive. Big up, lads! Murkomen’s statement on X read.
On his part, Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo hailed the triumphant team for a well-run campaign.
Omollo, who doubles as the team’s patron, termed the success an important milestone for the club.
“Congratulations to the Police FC on winning the 2024/25 FKF Premier League title; the Club’s first in its history. This milestone is the result of the team’s consistency, hard work, and professional approach throughout the season,” he stated.

The win ended Gor Mahia’s dominance and claimed the coveted crown with a game to spare.
The decisive moment came in the second half when a header from Brian Okoth handed Kenya Police the lead.
Entering the match with 61 points, Kenya Police needed just a draw to secure the title, as second-placed Gor Mahia and Tusker, both on 55 points, could only reach 61 even with wins in their remaining two games. Shabana, sitting fifth with 52 points, fought hard to spoil the party and keep their slim hopes of a top-three finish alive.
Apart from the bragging rights, the Etienne Ndajiragije-coached team secured their spot in the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League, where they will represent Kenya on the continental stage for the first time.
