Kenya Police FC surmounts Gor Mahia challenge to win maiden FKF PL title

Police FC have made history, clinching their first-ever Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title with a 1-0 victory over Shabana FC at Machakos Stadium.
The win, secured before the final whistle, sparked wild celebrations as the law enforcers ended Gor Mahia’s dominance and claimed the coveted crown with a game to spare. The decisive moment came in the second half when a header from Brian Okoth handed Kenya Police the lead.
By the final whistle, the scoreline held, and Kenya Police erupted in joy.
“We are the 2024/25 FKF Premier League Champions,” the club declared on Facebook.
Entering the match with 61 points, Kenya Police needed just a draw to secure the title, as second-placed Gor Mahia and Tusker, both on 55 points, could only reach 61 even with wins in their remaining two games. Shabana, sitting fifth with 52 points, fought hard to spoil the party and keep their slim hopes of a top-three finish alive.

Police crowned, CAF slot sealed
However, Police’s performance ensured they crossed the finish line as champions. The victory took Police to an unassailable 64 points, ending Gor Mahia’s hopes of a third straight title and Tusker’s faint chance of reclaiming the crown they last won in 2021/22.
The win not only marks Police’s first league title but also earns them a spot in the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League, where they will represent Kenya on the continental stage for the first time.
Their final match against Gor Mahia on June 22, 2025, will now be a celebratory affair, with the outgoing champions set to offer a guard of honour.
Elsewhere, the relegation battle remains intense. With one game left, six teams—Mara Sugar, FC Talanta, Posta Rangers, Murang’a SEAL, Bidco United, and City Stars, are fighting to avoid the drop to the National Super League.
