Shabana dispels security concerns ahead of Gor Mahia clash
Shabana chairman Jared Nivaton has reassured that the security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the much-anticipated Football Kenya Premier League clash pitting the club against Gor Mahia FC at the Gusii Stadium.
While issuing an update on the security protocol on Saturday, January 10, 2025, Nivaton allayed fears of security breaches that were witnessed during the previous clash pitting two hugely followed clubs back in May 2025.
Nivaton also urged both sets of fans to be peaceable and show restraint during the clash.
Arrangements
“We have held several meetings both in Nairobi and Kisii to ensure tomorrow’s event will be peaceful. We are here for football and having a great day. I want to ask our fans, this is more like a Nyanza derby: come in large numbers and come on time. We are thankful for the security agents in Gusii,” he stated.
“We have all arrangements in place with the security agencies, and as indicated, we have places where both sets of fans will be seated,” he stated.
“We have done this in a way that will ensure smooth running and proper demarcation and maintenance of the buffer zones,” he confirmed.
He implored fans to accept the final results of the anticipated clash
“Tomorrow we are expecting one of the three results: either a win, a draw, or a loss. Whichever way it goes, it is football, so let us all adhere to the guidelines put in place,” he added.

His sentiments reinforce the appeals for sanity and peace made by Gor Mahia’s administration manager, Ronald Ngala.
Speaking during a joint presser that brought together officials from the two teams, the Football Kenya Federation officials, and the security sector, stakeholders, and sponsors on Saturday, January 10, 2025, Ngala implored fans from both sides to uphold sanity.
Ngala’s appeals to Gor fans
The official further sought to quell concerns of Gor Mahia fans who had been mulling over skipping the clash after its relocation to Gusii.
“My message to Gor Mahia fans, especially those who had not planned to watch the game: make plans and come. Please adhere to the instruction of how fan segregation has been done and the checking points.

He also urged them to arrive earlier, observe the stadium sitting arrangement, and stick to their designated stands on the pitch.
“Gor fans will occupy the right side of the stadium from the VIP section. They will occupy G12 and 13 with entrance through gates I and A for regular fans. The VIP fans will access through gate K,” he confirmed.
“We welcome all to enjoy the game. We hope it will be good for all. We are brothers, and we hope to have a good game for all,” he added.
