Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna has criticised President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of subjecting Kenyans to endless suffering through controversial government decisions.

Taking it to his X account on Friday, May 29, 2026, Sifuna has said that the Kenya Kwanza administration wakes up daily to conjure up more ways to cause pain to Kenyans. Sifuna has said that the opposition is now struggling to keep up with what he termed the government’s capacity for evil.

“The Ruto government is just too much. These guys wake up every single day just to conjure up more ways to cause pain to Kenyans. I know we are expected to keep government in check as opposition, but it’s literally impossible to keep up with the breadth and depth of the capacity for evil these guys have,” Sifuna said.

The outspoken, embattled ODM secretary general argued that removing President Ruto from office would be the only viable option to solve most of the country’s problems, insisting the current administration has lost touch with the suffering of ordinary Kenyans.

“It doesn’t have to be like this, Bwana. When we tell you just kicking Ruto out solves 80 per cent of our problems, you best believe,” he added.

Sifuna further linked the government’s recent international engagements to what he described as dangerous deals that compromise Kenya’s interests.

Sifuna points out Haiti and Ebola deals

The senator has pointed out Kenya’s involvement in the Haiti security mission and the ongoing controversy surrounding reports of a proposed Ebola quarantine and treatment arrangement involving the United States.

“Just like he did with Haiti and now Ebola, for the right amount, this one can sell us to the devil himself,” the senator added.

Why Laikipia? Leaders’ uproar

The statement from the city senator comes as Laikipia leaders, led by Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri, have demanded a full disclosure from the government over reports that an Ebola quarantine and treatment facility for American citizens could be established at the Nanyuki Air Base.

In a joint statement released to the public on Friday, May 29, 2026, alongside Laikipia County Woman Representative Jane Kagiri, Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere and Laikipia West MP Wachira Karani, the leaders raised concern over what they termed a lack of transparency from the national government regarding the matter.

The lawmakers said that although they recognise the importance of global cooperation in fighting dangerous disease outbreaks, several critical questions remain unanswered concerning the reported plan.

Among the concerns raised by the leaders was why the government has failed to openly disclose its intentions to Kenyans, and particularly the people of Laikipia County.

“Our collective conscience is greatly disturbed by the news that there is an intention by the Government of Kenya to have an Ebola quarantine and treatment facility in Laikipia County,” the statement read.

“We strongly recognise the importance of coordinated efforts to protect humanity against the spread of such dangerous outbreaks; however, we have serious concerns and questions that need to be answered before any move is taken,” the statement added.
