Police recover stolen church items in Kayole, persons of interest flee
Police in Nairobi have recovered items stolen from a church in Mowlem following a routine patrol in the early hours of the morning in the Mwengenye Saika area.
According to a police report on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, officers from Obama Police Station in Kayole Sub-County made the recovery after spotting two individuals carrying luggage suspiciously near Dandora Bridge.
The report stated that the persons of interest abandoned the items and fled upon noticing the officers.
“Police officers from Obama Police Station in Kayole Sub-County have recovered stolen items during a routine early morning patrol in the Mwengenye Saika area,” National Police Service stated in a report.

“The officers on patrol spotted two individuals carrying luggage in a suspicious manner along Dandora Bridge. Upon noticing the officers, the suspects abandoned the items and fled the scene.”
Items recovered
A search conducted on the recovered luggage revealed assorted household goods and electronic equipment.
The officers also recovered a metal bar believed to have been used to break into the premises.
“A search of the recovered items revealed assorted household goods and electronic equipment, as well as a metal bar suspected to have been used to facilitate a break-in,” NPS noted.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the items had been stolen from the Full Gospel Mission Church located in the Mowlem Powerline area.

Authorities have since launched a manhunt for the persons of interest, with police intensifying patrols in the area to curb similar incidents.
“Preliminary investigations established that the items had been stolen from Full Gospel Mission Church in the Mowlem Powerline area, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspects,” NPS noted.
Appeal to the public
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest station or through emergency lines.
