The senator also demanded information on steps to strengthen PSV passenger safety, improve monitoring, and enforce professional conduct among drivers and conductors.

Kibwana further urged policy and legislative reforms to prevent similar tragedies and enhance accountability in Kenya’s public transport system.

Eugene Mutuku was a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student who passed on after being ejected from a moving matatu along Thika Road.

Taking it to her X account on Saturday, June 6, 2026, Nairobi’s women’s representative confirmed the death of the student, demanding answers to the death of Mutuku, who was a final-year student at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Matuu, Yatta.

“I am utterly heartbroken by what humanity has come to as I learn of the death of Eugene Mutuku, a final-year KMTC Matuu student who had just begun his clinical attachment in Kasarani,” she wrote.

Autopsy report

A postmortem report shared on Monday, June 8, 2026, revealed that the cause of Eugene Mutuku’s death was ejection from a moving matatu along Thika Road.

Addressing the press, family spokesperson Boniface Musyoka revealed that an autopsy report disclosed that the KMTC student died from severe multiple body injuries and internal bleeding caused by falling.

“The probable cause of death is severe bleeding due to force from a blunt object, and we suspect it was the tyre that ran over him,” Boniface Musyoka stated.
