Oscar Sudi lauds Nyeri people’s turnout for Ruto’s development tour

Kapseret Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has lauded the people of Nyeri for turning out in large numbers for President William Ruto’s development tour of the Mount Kenya region.
Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Sudi said that the Nyeri people had risen above narrow divisions and focused on hard work and progress.
According to Sudi, those who came out to witness the projects that were commissioned by the head of state on his first day of his week-long tour have chosen unity, coming together to move forward over chaos and tribal talk.
“I am deeply moved by the huge turnout and determination shown by the people of Nyeri. You’ve risen above narrow divisions, focusing on hard work and progress. While others spread chaos and tribal talk, you’ve chosen unity, coming together to move forward. Asante sana Nyeri,” Sudi stated.
Ruto’s Mt Kenya tour
Ruto on Tuesday, April 1, kicked off his five-day development tour of Mt Kenya in Laikipia County, where he flagged off the Last Mile Connectivity Programme to set the tempo of the high-octane visit, coming six months since he was last in the region.
He also officially opened the rehabilitated Ng’arachi Comprehensive School, delivered a school bus to Dr Wachira Secondary School, Kiamariga, and handed over car wash machines to boda boda operators from the county to boost their incomes.
He later visited Nanyuki Town, where he interacted with residents and launched development projects.
Ruto also inspected the Ksh350 million Nanyuki Modern Market and toured the Nanyuki Affordable Housing Project.
He later toured Nyeri County, where he flagged off the Last Mile Connectivity Programme worth Ksh850 million in Mwicwiri, which he says will connect 10,000 households in Nyeri County to power.
Ruto in Nyeri
In Nyeri, Ruto also opened a one-story, 12-classroom tuition block at Narumoru Township Primary School and assessed the ongoing development of Narumoru Market.
He later addressed the residents of Narumoru, who listened to him without any jeers as anticipated since Nyeri is considered the stronghold of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who fell out with his boss following his impeachment in October 2024.
Prior to Ruto’s development tour of the Mt Kenya region, Gachagua had warned him not to launch projects that were initiated by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
