Museveni: We arrested 2 Kenyans who are experts in riots
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has claimed his government arrested two Kenyans who are experts in riots.
Museveni made the comment after Kenyan activists Bob Njagi and Nelson Oyoo were released following their abduction that lasted for 38 days.
Speaking to Uganda’s national broadcaster on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Museveni commended the country’s intelligence for thwarting the plans of the duo, whom he accused of working with National Unity Platform leader Bobi Wine.
Experts in riots
“Here, we have got very good intelligence. Like, for instance, the two Kenyans whom we arrested – they were working with Kyagulanyi’s group. We monitored them and found out they were experts in riots,” he said.
The president proceeded to warn the youth against engaging in unruly acts, cautioning that such behaviours will not be tolerated under his watch.
He similarly sent a caution to an unnamed individual he claimed had been deceiving the youths to engage in riots.
Warning to rioters
“I must warn the people doing that game here in Uganda. Here we normally defeat it by countering it like the way we did in November 2020,” he added.
His remarks come a day after Njagi and Oyoo were released after enduring a horrific 38-day detention in Uganda’s military camp.
Speaking on Saturday, November 8, 2025, moments after his release, Njagi revealed that he was subjected to physical torture and deprived of food during the ordeal.

He also confirmed that they were being held by Uganda’s Special Forces Command in inhumane conditions and that they were unsure of making it out alive.
‘Unsure of our lives’
“I am delighted to be back home. 38 days of abduction were not easy; we did not think we would come out alive,” he said.
The two were abducted in Uganda after travelling there to stand in solidarity with presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobby Wine.
It has since emerged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was at the centre the efforts that ensured safe release and repatriation of activists.
In a joint statement posted on their social media on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Vocal Africa, the Law Society of Kenya, and Amnesty International Kenya welcomed the release of Njagi and Oyoo after 38 days of enforced disappearance.
The agencies also hailed the role of Kenyatta in facilitating the safe return of the abducted activists.
Appreciations
“We extend our appreciation to the Kenyan and Ugandan governments at the highest level and the immediate former president of Kenya for their cooperation towards their safe return. We thank their families, Free Kenya movement colleagues, human rights defenders, journalists, diplomats, and active citizens who have tirelessly campaigned for this moment,” VOCAL Africa said.
