Mogotio Member of Parliament (MP) Kiborek Rueben has come out to lament over his stolen phone while in Bomet.

In a statement shared on his social media channels on Friday, April 30, 2026, the outspoken first-term MP said he was robbed of his phone during his visit to Bomet, where he attended the burial of the father of Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir.

The MP described the thieves as ‘sharp boys,’ jokingly urging them to return the phone, promising them a reward in return.

Lakini watu wa Bomet, mbona muniibie simu na vile nyinyi ni watu wangu? Sharp boys,” he said.

He further added:

Kalasinga’s phone stolen

This comes days after Kabuchai Member of Parliament Majimbo Kalasinga shocked many when he lost his phone during a women’s empowerment forum in Saboti on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

The event was hosted by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi and had drawn a large crowd along with several leaders from across the region.

The news of the missing phone was delivered to the gathering by MP Caleb Amisi, who appealed to the person who might have picked it up to return it, stressing the importance of showing respect to the guests present.

Meanwhile, Mogotio MP Kiborek was among the hundreds of mourners who gathered in Kipketii, Bomet County, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, to bid farewell to Mzee Edwin Kipchirchir Koech, the father of Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir.

President William Ruto led a high-profile delegation of government officials, governors, and local leaders in the emotional send-off.

Mzee Koech was laid to rest at his home in a solemn ceremony marked by tributes praising him as a disciplined and dedicated parent who raised a prominent family.
