Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
Museveni’s visit
Uganda President Yoweri Museveni marks his last day in Kenya.
Yesterday, the Ugandan president who is in the country on a state visit, met President Ruto at State House, Nairobi, where they agreed to work together on an oil pipeline project from Eldoret to Uganda.
“Uganda is Kenya’s historical ally, a good neighbour and the largest trading partner. The people of our two countries are one people, and our interests are mutual. We work very closely at the bilateral and multilateral levels, in the East African Community and the African Union,” a statement shared by President Ruto read in parts.
“The agreement on the importation and transit of refined petroleum products through Kenya to Uganda, whose signing we’ve just witnessed, enables Uganda National Oil Company Limited to import refined petroleum products directly from producers in different jurisdictions, thus bringing to an end the challenges faced by Uganda. Kenya and Uganda are firmly united by relations deeply rooted in shared history and culture and aspirations for regional peace and prosperity,” the statement added.

Blackout
Two counties will today be affected by a scheduled blackout set to last between seven and eight hours.
According to a statement by Kenya Power, the planned blackout is a part of network maintenance.
In Kisii, the blackout will affect part of Ogembo area including Ogembo Sports Club, MRF Tyres, Junior Farms Ogembo, Getare Primary, Gituno TBC and adjacent customers.
The areas will be affected from 9 am to 4 pm.
The blackout in Murang’a will affect Maporomoko and Ngoingwa areas from 9 am to 5 pm.
Part of the areas that will be affected include; Shade Net, Maporomoko, Karangaita Coffee Estate, IPM Farm, Penta Flowers, Simbi Roses, Ngoingwa Estate and adjacent customers.
