Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on April 15

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Nairobi and Tharaka Nithi County on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

According to a public notice on its X account on April 14, 2026, the utility company said the interruptions are necessary to allow for routine maintenance of the electricity network.

“Good evening. Kindly note that the following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15, 2026,” Kenya Power noted.

Affected areas

In the Nairobi Region, the outage will affect Kitsuru and surrounding areas, including the whole of Kitsuru Road and adjacent customers.

The interruption is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.In Mt. Kenya Region, several areas in Tharaka Nithi County will also experience power cuts.

The blackout will affect Magundu and Ndumbini markets, including Magundu Market, Magundu Village, Matinia Market, Nkururu Primary School, Kathangawe Primary School, Ndumbini Primary School, Kaaganjo Primary School, Muragara Secondary School and Igagara Secondary School.

The interruption in these areas will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additionally, power supply will be interrupted in Tungu Factory and Ntutuni Catholic Church areas from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is part of efforts to improve service reliability and ensure efficient power distribution.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
