Maintenance in other regions

The Kisumu announcement follows a broader exercise carried out on Thursday, August 28, which saw power interruptions across several regions. In Nairobi, parts of Mowlem and Umoja Three were affected, while in the North Rift, sections of Trans Nzoia County, including Bikeke, Maili 7, and Matunda Hospital, experienced outages.

In Kiambu County, Tigoni, Loreto, and Redhill, including institutions such as St Paul University, were also covered in the maintenance. The Coast Region was significantly affected, with the entire Likoni area in Mombasa, including Kenya Ferry and Aga Khan Hospital, going without power for several hours. Taita Taveta’s Taveta, Maktau, and Mwatate towns, as well as Kilifi’s Gkambala area and Vipingo Centre, were also listed in the programme.

Preparing

Kenya Power explained that such maintenance activities are carried out to upgrade infrastructure and minimise unexpected outages. Although the company did not provide details of the exact works being undertaken in Kisumu, it assured customers that the programme is designed to enhance efficiency and long-term service delivery.

The firm further encouraged residents to stay updated through its official channels, particularly its X handle, @KenyaPower_Care, where real-time updates on outages and restorations are shared.
