The legal team representing the families of the missing Macmillan Kiarie Mugo, Michael Oloo Osoro and Evans Otieno Omondi is seeking court summons for three key witnesses in the case.

Led by lawyer Abner Mango, they requested the High Court to issue summons to Brenda Akoth Opondo, a Facebook user who commented on a post stating that she had witnessed the arrest of one Michael Oloo Osoro from a barber shop.

Appearing before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on Monday, July 20, 2026, lawyer Abner also requested the court to summon one Waceke Macharia, who is said to be the owner of the barber shop Oloo was arrested at.

Lawyer Abner also urged the court to summon Jane Nyambura Njoroge, who is said to have been attending to Oloo on that day, as the alleged plainclothes officers arrested him even before she completed shaving him.

Key witnesses

Mango told the court that they believe that three are key witnesses in the case and will help the court and the family get answers to the missing three persons, adding that they will also expose the three men who took Osoro away in a black car.

“The testimony of these three witnesses has the potential to bring out the facts surrounding the disappearance of Micheal Oloo Osoro and, more importantly, to expose the identity of the three gentlemen who allegedly took him from the barber shop and went with him to an awaiting motor vehicle,” Lawyer Mango told the court.

Orders for CCTV production

Notably, the legal team also requested court to issue and order for production of CCTV footage in custody of the DCI and investigating officer and have them be played in court to shed light on how Oloo was taken away from the barber shop June 19, 2026.

Mango also made an application for witness protection for the three key witnesses, noting that due to the public and nature of the witnesses, the security and wellbeing of the three was important.

However, the application for the summons and production of the CCTV footage has been vehemently opposed by Lawyer Paul Nyamodi, Inspector General of Police (IG) Douglas Kanja and Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Mohamed Amin.

Judge Muteti has set Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 11:30 am for the ruling on the applications on whether the court will summon and order the production of the CCTV footage.
