Juja MP George Koimburi has been accused of ashaming his constituents over police reports that he stage-managed his own abduction.

Addressing Madaraka Day celebrations at Juja Farm shopping centre on June 1, 2025, Kalimoni Ward MCA Godfrey Mucheke hit out at the MP, who has been hospitalised after being found dumped in a coffee farm hours after his family claimed he had been abducted, telling him to stop engaging in drama and serve the people who elected him.

Saying Koimburi had put Juja residents to shame, Mucheke told him he was elected to serve the people, not to engage in political theatrics, a thing he maintained has made locals unhappy.

“You have put Juja residents to shame. You were elected to serve the people, not to engage in political theatrics. We are unhappy with these dramas,” Mucheke said.

“We shall not accept a situation where Juja becomes popular for ridiculous things from our MP. We elected you so that you can fight for development, but it was shameful to see images of our representative rolling on the ground after he abducted himself,” he added

He reprimanded the MP for attempting to fool the electorate in a bid to win sympathy for political gain.

On Monday, May 26, 2025, police arrested three associates of Koimburi after it emerged that the vehicle that was allegedly used to abduct him belonged to one of them while another car which police said took him to a hotel in Gatundu where he had spent the night, was owned by one of his employees.

The MP is still undergoing treatment at the Karen Hospital, Nairobi, with police saying they intend to record a statement from him regarding the abduction saga.

At the same time, Mucheke highlighted a series of development projects that have been completed in the area by Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s administration in a span of two years, including roads and health facilities.

Elsewhere, Ruiru MP Simon King’ara emphasised the need for leaders to champion unity and cohesion for the sake of the country’s socio-economic progress.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations held at Mwiki Primary School in his constituency, King’ara said leaders must remain committed to uniting Kenyans if we are to secure a better future.

“Leaders must remain committed to uniting Kenyans if we are to secure a better future,” King’ara said.

He further urged citizens to support the current administration and desist from divisive politics, noting that meaningful development can only be realised through cooperation with the government.

His remarks were echoed by a section of residents who praised the country’s journey since gaining internal self-rule in 1963, highlighting various development milestones achieved over the years.
