Gachagua treated to a final dinner ahead of his travel to Kenya
Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua was treated to a farewell ceremony in Massachusetts on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, ahead of his travel back to Kenya.
During the elaborate dinner that saw Gachagua receive a VIP reception from stakeholders in the diaspora, the DCP leader urged them not to be exhausted in supporting his course.
“Msichoke na sisi; as I said, we want some of you to come and help us in government, business, and support for different activities. There will be a varied range of activities between us and you,” Gachagua said.
Call out wrongs
On her part, Gachagua’s spouse, Pastor Dorcas, urged Kenyans in the diaspora to call out what is wrong and support that which is right.
“Make sure that you call out what is wrong and support what is right,” Dorcas said.

Gachagua departed Kenya for the United States on July 9, 2025, for a two-month-long diaspora engagement tour and arrived at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on July 10, where he kicked off his trip.
Here, his initial itinerary included engagements in several key cities, including Seattle, Dallas, Boston, and Baltimore.
During his visit, Gachagua engaged with the Kenyan diaspora, held town hall meetings, and attended social gatherings. However, his trip was cut short unexpectedly.
Gachagua’s return
He ended his tour to return to Kenya to lead his party, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), in preparing for the upcoming by-elections.
In his statement on the return to Kenya, Gachagua apologized to his supporters in the US, stating that the remaining engagements would be rescheduled for early next year.

Ahead of his arrival in the country on Thursday, August 21, 2025, the DCP party has called on Kenyans to turn up in their numbers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to welcome him.
However, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen says the government has put everything in place to ensure that no major disruptions will be witnessed during the return of Gachagua.
Additionally, Gachagua faces the possibility of arrest over comments he made while in the US and is battling allegations of inciting ethnic divisions.
