Detectives nab 2, recover 114 rolls of bhang in Migori
Two people have been arrested by police stationed at Migori Police Station after they were picked up during a raid, and 114 rolls of cannabis were seized at Suna West Sub-County in Migori County.
Writing on X on Monday, June 29, 2026, the DCI confirmed that the two persons of interest, aged 35 and 28, were arrested following a tip-off about a suspected narcotics trade in Migori and its environs.
“Police officers domiciled at Migori Police Station have swooped in like hawks, arresting two traffickers who thought they could outsmart the law,” the DCI statement read in part.

The detectives have confirmed that the two persons of interest were on a motorcycle, a Boxer Bajaj, when they were caught in a coordinated operation in the Namba area of Suna West along Migori Road.
The detectives further revealed that the two were wearing oversized jackets and each had a roll of cannabis sativa under their clothing in the hope it would not be noticed while they were being transported.
The detectives noted that a search of the officers reportedly found 37 rolls of cannabis from one individual and 77 rolls from the other, making a total of 114 rolls.
The DCI has confirmed that both were arrested and remanded to the Migori Police Station, where they are being processed for arraignment in court.
The police also seized the motorcycle suspected of being used to transport the drugs, and the drugs are preserved as evidence.

“We are taking targeted and bold steps in the fight against drug and substance abuse, including investing in research to strengthen evidence-based interventions. Today, I presided over the launch of a report on emerging psychoactive substances and illicit drug use in Kenya,” Murkomen said.

According to Murkomen, the move comes following reports by the NACADA team, which revealed alarming levels of substance exposure in the country
“The study by NACADA strengthens our capacity to safeguard public health, enhance national security, and anchor our policies firmly in evidence,” Murkomen stated.
The authorities have called on the public to keep coming up with details of the criminals’ activities via anonymous reports while continuing their investigation.
