President William Ruto has nominated former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion to serve as a member of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in the latest round of presidential nominations.

According to a press release from the Executive Office of the President dated Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Sossion was nominated alongside Antonina Lentoijoni as a member of the Teachers Service Commission. The nominations have been forwarded to Parliament for consideration and approval in accordance with the Constitution and relevant statutes.

The nominations were part of a wider round of appointments, promotions and redeployments announced by the Executive Office of the President.

In the same notice, the Head of Public Service announced nominees to the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit.

“Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act,” the statement read.

Those nominated include Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a), Silvia C. Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang’en Kimkirir (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Njekuri Abausa (Nakuru) and Mary Ndiritu Kiloi (Nairobi).

The Public Service Commission also approved several promotions and redeployments within the executive.

Among them, Isaac M. Mwaura was promoted and redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President, while Charles Owino Wahong’o was redeployed from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy as Acting Head of Government Communications and appointed Government Spokesperson in the Executive Office of the President.

“The Head of State and Government also nominated seven individuals for appointment as members of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Coordinating Summit in accordance with the Intergovernmental Relations Act. The nominees are Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a), Silvia C. Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang’en Kimkirir (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Njekuri Abausa (Nakuru) and Mary Ndiritu Kiloi (Nairobi)’

In the same announcement, President Ruto has also nominated Dr Duncan Ojwang Oburu as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), while Ms Flora Mutua was nominated to serve as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
