The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party’s Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, has urged Kenyans to respect the privacy of individuals when it comes to health matters.

Speaking to the media just outside Parliament buildings on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, Sifuna said it was important for citizens to exercise courtesy and restraint when discussing anyone’s personal health.

“The Orange Democratic Movement Party’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has urged Kenyans to respect the privacy of health of individuals,” he said.

“Whenever Mzee has had any challenges, he has always spoken out. Even his spokesperson has already spoken out,” part of Sifuna’s remarks read.

Without divulging further details, Sifuna maintained that the ODM Party leader, Raila Odinga, is doing well and continues to receive regular public updates through his official communication channels.

He also condemned individuals spreading unverified claims about Raila’s health and whereabouts, calling the rumours unnecessary and disrespectful.

Sifuna’s sentiments were echoed by ODM Deputy Party Leader and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who also dismissed the ongoing speculation surrounding Raila Odinga’s health.

Osotsi assured the public that the party leader is in good condition and actively engaging in his daily routines.

“Our party leader, Hon. Raila Odinga, is okay. Even today in the morning, I talked to him while he was in the gym. Can a sick person attend the gym?

“Let them leave us and ODM alone. Plus, there is no leadership vacuum in the ODM Party,” Osotsi said.

His comments came amid widespread social media speculation about Raila’s health and his recent absence from several public events.

However, ODM leaders have maintained that the former Prime Minister is healthy and that the party’s leadership structure remains intact.

Sifuna concluded by urging the public to focus on national issues instead of fueling unnecessary rumours, noting that respect for privacy is a cornerstone of responsible citizenship.
