The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has launched an aspirant registration portal as part of its preparedness for the 2027 general election.

In a statement read by the party’s Acting Secretary General, Catherine Omanyo, after the Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting held in Nairobi on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the party urged aspirants interested in various seats to register through the portal, which is set to be launched soon.

“The national secretariat will soon be opening a portal for members to apply for all elective seats.”

Catherine Omanyo also assured them of a free and fair nomination exercise, stating that there will be no sacred cows in the process and that every aspirant will undergo a nomination process before being issued a nomination certificate.

The committee has also agreed to begin rigorous and extensive nationwide tours, particularly in their strongholds, in a bid to strengthen and expand the party’s identity, which has existed for over two decades since its inception in 2005.

“At the end of the deliberations, the central committee made the following resolutions: one, that we embark on a vigorous and rigorous exercise to popularise and strengthen our party in all parts of the country, and particularly in our strongholds, we have no choice but to make bigger our identity.”

The CMC also stated that, as part of the countrywide tours, the party will hold youth conventions as a way of energising and revitalising ODM.

Youth activations

The exercise will take place in 25 counties and will begin on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Nairobi, where a youth conference will be held.

Another youth event is scheduled for Mombasa on Sunday, April 26, 2026. After these engagements, the party will take a two-day break for a joint parliamentary group (PG) meeting before announcing the next phase of youth activities.

The committee further directed that grassroots elections be conducted in areas where they have not been held, as well as in regions where disputes exist, as the party positions itself for the 2027 general election.

Omanyo, while reading the statement, also assured Kenyans of free and fair nominations ahead of the polls, stating that there will be no “sacred cows” in the nomination process.
