Sifuna hints that Linda Mwananchi could join United Opposition
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said the Linda Mwananchi movement will not split the opposition vote ahead of the 2027 General Election, insisting the movement is committed to working with other opposition leaders under a united front.
Speaking during the Linda Mwananchi tour in Mosocho, Kisii County, Sifuna said the movement’s priority is to ensure the opposition fields one team, saying Kenyans want a decisive outcome in the next election.
“Sisi, kama Linda Mwananchi, hatutamika kusplit kura ya upinzani. Hata tukienda peke yetu tutashinda, lakini tutashinda saa nane. Wakenya wanasema wanataka mchezo huu uishe saa kumi na mbili asubuhi. Ndiyo maana tutatoa kikosi kimoja pamoja na United Opposition,” he said.

Sifuna also dismissed suggestions that he could be persuaded to run separately, saying the movement would continue engaging other opposition leaders to ensure unity ahead of the polls.
“Kama kuna mtu analala mahali akisema Sifuna atachochwa asimame kura pekee yake halafu tukute Kasongo amepita katikati, nataka niseme haitawezekana,” he said. “Nitazungumza na huyo Matiangi na wengine wote ili tutoe kikosi kimoja.”
