ODM unveils nationwide tours, youth conventions in 25 counties
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party’s Central Management Committee (CMC) has resolved that the party should embark on nationwide tours aimed at popularising the Orange Party.
In a statement read by the party’s Acting Secretary General, Catherine Omanyo on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a CMC meeting held in Nairobi, the committee agreed to begin rigorous and extensive tours, particularly in their strongholds, in a bid to strengthen and expand the party’s identity, which has existed for over two decades since its inception in 2005.
“At the end of the deliberations, the central committee made the following resolutions: one, that we embark on a vigorous and rigorous exercise to popularise and strengthen our party in all parts of the country, and particularly in our strongholds, we have no choice but to make bigger our identity”

The CMC also stated that, as part of the countrywide tours, the party will hold youth conventions as a way of energising and revitalising ODM.
The exercise will take place in 25 counties and will begin on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Nairobi, where a youth conference will be held.
Another youth event is scheduled for Mombasa on Sunday, April 26, 2026. After these engagements, the party will take a two-day break for a joint parliamentary group (PG) meeting before announcing the next phase of youth activities.
The committee further directed that grassroots elections be conducted in areas where they have not been held, as well as in regions where disputes exist, as the party positions itself for the 2027 General Election.
Omanyo, while reading the statement, also assured Kenyans of free and fair nominations ahead of the polls, stating that there will be no “sacred cows” in the nomination process.
UDA-ODM talks

This marks the first official party meeting since their special national delegates’ conference held at Jamhuri Grounds, where they tasked their party leader, Oburu Odinga, to fast-track pre-coalition talks with the UDA party.
During the press briefing, Catherine Omanyo had earlier indicated that part of the agenda discussed during the CMC meeting involved deliberations on how to approach pre-coalition talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), but she largely avoided the issue in her official statement.
Instead, the party issued a pointed message to UDA, citing growing and unwarranted statements from some of its members, which ODM says have caused disquiet and anxiety among its supporters.
ODM cracks
This comes at a time when ODM is experiencing internal cracks, with two emerging factions—Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi—both seeking to assert influence within the party. The Linda Mwananchi faction, led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, has also been conducting its own countrywide tours.
