Fred Matiang’i: PNU and Jubilee to work together ahead of 2027 general election
Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i has rallied political support for a closer working relationship between the Party of National Unity (PNU) and the Jubilee Party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Thursday, June 4, 2026, during a political rally in Isiolo County, Matiang’i said the push for cooperation is anchored on the need to form a government that responds to the needs of citizens, insisting that leaders with shared values must work together to achieve political transformation.
“Wangapi wanakubaliana na mimi kwamba tunahitaji mabadiliko? Namna hiyo, sisi tunataka mabadiliko kwa sababu tunataka serikali inayotufaa,” he posed.

Matiang’i further expressed confidence in collaborating with key political leaders, including Peter Munya, whom he described as a trusted and committed leader focused on public service.
“Na mimi nimejiunga na huyu ndugu yangu Peter Munya kwa sababu tumefanya kazi na yeye. Mimi ninamjua hakika na ninajua ni mtu mwaminifu, kiongozi mwaminifu na mtu ambaye anashughulikia masilahi ya wananchi,” he said.
Munya’s political ambitions
He urged residents to support Munya’s political ambitions, calling on voters in Kianjai to back him in his bid for the Meru gubernatorial seat.
“Namna hiyo ninawaomba tafadhali wananchi Kianjai, mumfikirie kabisa na mwishowe mumpigie kura mumchague kuwa gavana wenu aendeshe mambo mbele,” he added.

Matiang’i also signalled openness to working with a wide range of opposition leaders, saying discussions on cooperation were ongoing.
“Tuko tayari kushirikiana na viongozi wale wengine… Mheshimiwa Rigathi Gachagua, Mheshimiwa Kalonzo Musyoka, Mheshimiwa Martha Karua, Mheshimiwa Eugene Wamalwa, Mheshimiwa JB Muturi… mpaka wale viongozi wa Linda Mwananchi, akina Sifuna, akina Babu Owino… tunataka kushirikiana na George Natembeya na kila mtu ambaye ana mtazamo wa mabadiliko katika Jamhuri ya Kenya,” he said.
Peaceful campaigns
has called for peaceful campaigns as Kenya gears up for the highly anticipated General Elections in 2027.

He emphasised the need to have a calm and respectful campaign. At the same time, he expressed his readiness to serve the Country as a Head of State.
“Kama ni siasa tunafanya Siasa ya amani, Siasa ya kuheshimiana sisi wenyewe, na hawa ndugu zetu na dada ambao wako kwa serikali tunawaheshimu laikini kama kazi inakua ngumu waondoke pole pole sisi tuko tayari kufanya hiyo kazi,” Matiang’i stated.
