Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i continued to shape his political comeback on Wednesday after hosting a delegation from the Kuria community of Migori County, where he made a direct appeal for support ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Matiang’i said the meeting was part of a broader effort to build a national coalition rooted in equity, unity and service to all Kenyans regardless of tribe or political alignment. He emphasised that Kenya’s next phase of leadership must rise above old divisions and deliver development fairly across the country.

In his statement shared on X on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Matiang’i expressed joy at hosting the delegation and underscored the importance of inclusive development.

“I was excited to host our brothers and sisters from the Kuria community of Migori County. I emphasised the fact that every community deserves equitable development irrespective of ethnic, political or religious affiliation,” he said.

He used the forum to outline his vision for a country anchored on fairness, and one where public resources are not distributed based on political loyalty but on need and justice.

“I also shared my vision for a country where the leadership serves all Kenyans equally,” he added.

The former CS, now positioning himself as a national opposition figure within the emerging United Opposition fold, made a direct request to the Kuria community to back his presidential ambition.

“I beseeched the Kuria community to support my bid for the presidency in the 2027 General Election. Our journey forward must unite us as one Kenya,” Matiang’i said.

His remarks continue a growing trend of political realignment and early campaigns as various leaders seek to consolidate regional support ahead of the next election cycle.

For years, the Kuria community has been viewed as a swing voting bloc within Migori County and the wider Nyanza region, making the outreach politically significant for any presidential hopeful.
