Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi called for a complete Cabinet dissolution after President William Ruto hinted at reshuffling his cabinet.

Ruto on Thursday, July 4, 2024, during a Cabinet meeting hosted at State House, Nairobi, hinted at plans to chart a new future following the deadly wave of protests witnessed in the country in the last two weeks.

However, Amisi states that President Ruto’s Cabinet has no saints and that no one should be spared in the looming changes.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP in a statement made via his official X account on Friday, July 5, 2024, says that the current Cabinet Secretaries are not working, and Ruto should therefore let go of them.

He says President Ruto should not select a few Cabinet Secretaries as sacrificial lambs in his expected changes.

“If a CS mess and the president is afraid of sacking him/her, just know, the president is the engine of the mess. This is the first cabinet in history with no saints. No one is working, no one with a track record. The entire cabinet must go. Selecting a few to die for the sins of all will not be acceptable. Kenya needs a Renaissance!” Amisi stated.

Senators call

Senators on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, charged that changes must be made in the cabinet accusing some of the Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) of underperforming.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale told President Ruto to dissolve his cabinet and reconstitute it.

Khalwale, who was speaking during the Wednesday Senate proceedings stated that President Ruto’s cabinet has failed him.

The vocal lawmaker also urged the head of state to do away with offices that he believes are not constitutional.

Khalwale was specific with the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) positions and the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary which is held by Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

“Mr President, dissolve your cabinet and reconstitute it. Disband offices outside the Constitution, including Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), including Prime Cabinet Secretary, including the Offices of the First Lady,” Khalwale said.
