Kenya’s Emmanuel Korir believes he is capable of filling the big shoes of World 800m record holder David Rudisha at the World Championships.
The US-based runner qualified for today’s final in 800m after winning his semi-final heat yesterday and despite not having a good season in the Diamond League, he remains optimistic Kenya will regain the world title i the absence of Rudisha.
“I have been nursing injuries for the better part of the season. On the positive side, I am happy to be fit again,” said Korir, who clocked 1:46.6.
Korir will face former Diamond League Trophy winner Ferguson Rotich, Nicholas Kiplagat, Alfred Keter, Collins Kipruto, Ngeno Kipngetich, Jonathan Kitilit and Abel Kipsang in the final.
