Al Duhail receive Michael Olunga boost
Qatar Stars League champions Al Duhail have received a significant boost with the return of their top scorer, Michael Olunga, to training.
The Harambee Stars captain had been sidelined since early December due to a hamstring injury sustained during an Asian Champions League match against Persepolis.
Michael Olunga’s injury
Olunga, who currently holds the top scorer position for Al Duhail with eight goals after 12 rounds in the Qatar Stars League, resumed training this week after recovering from the injury.
The striker shared images from his training sessions, expressing his readiness to return to action.
“The comeback is always greater than the setback. Off my injury, now time to get back to business …God ndio dere,” he shared.
Despite missing some matches due to the injury, Olunga has been a key player for Al Duhail. In a notable performance, he scored twice in an Asian Champions League match against Istiklol, becoming Al Duhail’s all-time top scorer in the inter-club continental competition.
Michael Olunga’s nomination
His impressive run earned him a nomination for the Middle East Player of the Year Award at the Globe Soccer Awards, putting him in esteemed company alongside football stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and others.
In the previous season of the Qatar Stars League, Olunga showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting 22 goals, contributing significantly to Al Duhail’s success in the league.
His return to full fitness is expected to strengthen the team’s forward line as they aim for continued success in domestic and continental competitions.
