KNEC opens recruitment for 2026 KCSE oral and practical exam assessors
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of assessors for the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical examination papers.
In an X update on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the council has invited qualified teachers and college tutors to apply before the July 15, 2026, deadline.
The examinations council said the recruitment exercise targets professionals who will assess candidates in the oral and practical components of the national examinations. Successful applicants will undergo on-the-job training during the assessment process.

“We are recruiting Assessors for the 2026 KCSE examination oral and practical papers. For more information on how to apply, click the link,” KNEC said in the notice, adding that applications close on July 15, 2026.
Who qualifies
According to KNEC, the recruitment is open to qualified secondary school teachers and college tutors who meet the prescribed requirements for the various oral and practical examination papers.

Those selected will be trained while assessing the 2026 KCSE examinations rather than through a separate pre-assessment programme.
“The professionals identified will be trained on-the-job during assessment of the 2026 KCSE examination papers. For more information on how to apply, visit the KNEC website via the link: www.knec.ac.ke/careers/
“Teachers / Tutors who are already in the KNEC database of assessors need not apply.”
2026 KNEC important dates
This comes a month after the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) urged parents and guardians to confirm the registration status of candidates for the 2026 national assessments and examinations before the end of June.

In a notice issued on Friday, April 17, 2026, the target learners are set to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), and Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).
“Are you a parent/guardian of a candidate for the 2026 national assessment or examination? You can now confirm your child’s registration status through SMS,” the council wrote on X.
Parents can now verify their child’s registration through an SMS service by sending the candidate’s assessment or index number to 20076.
