Kenya among eight countries on shortlist for regional netball event
Kenya is among eight countries that are officially set to feature in the East Africa Netball Championship that are earmarked for the end of April at National Indoor Stadium in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
Besides Kenya, the other potential candidates in the fray are hosts Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and Democratic Republic of Con go, South Sudan, Uganda and Zanzibar. Speaking in Dar-es-Salaam, the chairperson of Tanzania Amateur Netball Association (CHANETA) Dorothy Marwa said DRC and South Sudan have been shortlisted as guest teams’ to spice up the event and enhance competitiveness.
The perennial b participants in the event are Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar and Kenya. In the meantime, Marewa has hinted that the organizers have decided to expand the competition.
“CHANETA plans to have many teams compete in the event for the first time in the history of the championships.”
She added: “We are currently seeking for sponsors to support the event and commencement date of the event shall be communicated in due course. Hosts Tanzania are expected to be represented by Tamisemi, Jeshi La Kujenga Taifa (JKT) Mbweni, Uhamiaji, NSSF and Polisi Arusha.
