Gor Mahia marked an emotional afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium with a convincing 3-0 win over Posta Rangers, dedicating the victory to their departed patron, Raila Odinga.

The record Kenyan champions were dominant from start to finish, sealing the win through goals from Stanley, Austin, and Felix. The result ended Posta Rangers’ unbeaten run and brought Gor Mahia closer to the top of the Premier League table.

“We dedicate this big win to our departed Patron, Raila Odinga. Continue resting in peace, Baba,” the club posted after the match on X on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Gor Mahia take control

From the opening whistle, Gor Mahia controlled the pace of the game. Their midfield trio dictated play while the attackers pressed high, forcing Posta Rangers to defend deep. The pressure paid off when Stanley opened the scoring with a composed header in the 58th minute.

Posta Rangers tried to push back, but their attempts were quickly shut down by Gor Mahia’s solid defence. Austin doubled the lead in the 71st minute, capping off a fine team move that left the visitors flat-footed.

As the clock ticked into stoppage time (90+2), Felix struck the third goal to seal the victory.

Win dedicated to Baba

The win carried deep meaning for the Gor Mahia family. Coach Charles Akonnor had earlier stated that his team intends to maintain their winning momentum.

“We want to continue with the same form. It was unfortunate that we had to break (to mourn the passing of Raila Odinga) without blaming anyone. It is important to get back to our rhythm, momentum, and the belief.”

“We also want to make the fans happy, and we are grateful for their support. Our job is to repay their steadfast loyalty this season, we don’t want to disappoint them.”

Posta Rangers, who had started the day top of the table, could not cope with Gor Mahia’s intensity. The Mailmen’s attack looked blunt, and they struggled to retain possession under pressure.

The defeat leaves them and Kakamega Homeboyz leading the standings but now with Gor Mahia closing in fast.

Shabana FC, meanwhile, failed to capitalise on the weekend fixtures after losing 1-0 to Mathare United at Gusii Stadium. The defeat was their second consecutive loss after falling to Posta Rangers on October 15. They now sit fourth on the table with seven points, level with Mathare United and Bidco United.
