FKF Boss mourns Rix Kanuli, praises his dedication to Kenyan football
Kenya Football Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohamed has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Rix Kanuli, coach and long-serving figure in Kenyan football.
The announcement comes as the football community remembers Kanuli’s contribution to nurturing talent and promoting the sport across the country.

In a statement shared on X on Thursday, January 15, 2026, FKF President Hussein Mohamed highlighted Kanuli’s dedication and recent work with Mombasa United.
“Kenyan football has lost a dedicated and experienced servant of the game in Rix Kanuli, who gave so much, most recently with Mombasa United,” he wrote.

He offered condolences to Kanuli’s loved ones and the wider football fraternity, acknowledging the impact of his loss.
“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire football fraternity. May his soul rest in peace,” Hussein Mohamed added.

FKF also released an official statement mourning the passing of the coach, reaffirming Kanuli’s service to Kenyan football and his contributions to club development.
“FKF mourns the passing of coach Rix Kanuli, a dedicated servant of the game who served Kenyan football with distinction, most recently with Mombasa United. Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire football fraternity. Rest in peace, Coach,” the federation wrote.

FKF said Kanuli’s career spanned decades, during which he mentored young players, contributed to local leagues, and played a role in enhancing coaching standards in the country. His passing leaves a void in the coaching community and among the clubs he guided.
Kanuli will be remembered as a committed coach whose work positively shaped Kenyan football at both grassroots and professional levels.
