Hussein confirms FKF officials’ delegation tour to France
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed is leading a delegation of the Federation’s top officials on a tour of Marseille, France.
Mohammed confirmed the visit on his Facebook page on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
According to the FKF supremo, he and his delegation—including Vice President McDonald Mariga and NEC members Abdalla Yusuf, Robert Macharia, and Kerubo Momanyi—are engaging institutions focused on youth development, elite training, and professional football structures. The aim is to secure partnerships for the Kenyan Federation.
Partnership
“I am leading a high-powered football delegation comprised of my Vice President @MarigaOfficial and NEC members @VioMomoney, Robert Macharia, and Abdallah Yusuf in Marseille today courtesy of the President of @OM_Officiel, Pablo Fernández Longoria,” he stated.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the FKF agreed to a deal with the mayor of the city of Miramas following discussions with the Kenyan delegation.
As part of the agreement, the Kenyan Harambee Starlets team will pitch camp in the country ahead of the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) games, to be held in Morocco.
The Starlets, under coach Beldine Odemba, qualified for the continental tournament after a nine-year wait, having beaten Gabon in the final round of qualifiers.

Hussein stated that the Federation will continue pursuing more opportunities to improve Kenya’s football image and exposure.
He further signalled more developments as the trip enters Thursday, with far more important meetings scheduled.
“We are engaging institutions that continue to set the standard in youth development, elite training environments, and professional football structures. We also paid a courtesy visit to Frédéric Vigouroux, the Mayor of the City of Miramas. The objective is clear: to expose our national teams to the best systems in the world and lay the groundwork for meaningful technical cooperation for the future of Kenyan football,” he added.
The delegation was also part of the supporters who attended the UEFA Champions League match between Olympique de Marseille and Liverpool at the Stade Vélodrome in France, on the invitation of Olympique de Marseille President Pablo Longoria.
Mariga, a football icon, represented Kenya in the competition and is the first Kenyan to play in Europe’s top-tier club competition. During his heyday as an Inter Milan star, the Kenyan football icon became the only Kenyan footballer to have ever won the coveted trophy, achieving the feat under Portuguese coach José Mourinho.
The Football Kenya Federation delegation will hold discussions with Olympique de Marseille club officials tomorrow, with potential collaborations and football development initiatives set to be at the centre of the meeting.
